We achieve the Bexley Oracy Bronze Award!
We’re proud to announce that Northumberland Heath Primary School has achieved the Bexley Oracy Bronze Award!
At Northumberland Heath, we believe every child deserves a voice and the confidence to use it.
This award, presented by the London Borough of Bexley, recognises the fantastic progress we’ve made in building a whole-school culture of talk — where every child has the confidence, vocabulary and skills to express themselves clearly and respectfully.
The borough highlighted how our pupils use purposeful talk every day- from Think–Pair–Share and Agree, Build, Challenge to using talk for reflection, teamwork and problem-solving. They were especially impressed by how oracy has strengthened inclusion, wellbeing and digital learning across the school.
You can help at home too! Try chatting about your day at dinner, reading aloud together, or playing games like Would You Rather… or I Spy. Every conversation helps build confidence and language.
A huge thank you to our amazing staff, pupils and families for your part in this achievement and here’s to continuing our journey towards Silver!
