Teach Cancer a Lesson!
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very excited to announce that this year every child in the Woodland Academy Trust will be given the opportunity to take part in a Race for Life event in aid of Cancer Research UK.
To make this the most successful event possible for all children, there will be three separate events taking place in July 2019.
Fundraising Day – Monday 1st July 2019
We will be having a non-school uniform day on this date where children will have the option of coming to school in the Cancer Research UK colours of pink, white and blue, or in a sports kit. This day will be £1 for every child to start our fundraising efforts. After school, on this day, we will be running different activities such as a bake sale, face painting and ‘beat the goalie’ to help towards the fundraising.
KS2 Event – Monday 8th July 2019
We will be inviting all children from Year 3 to Year 6 across all four schools in our Trust family to join us at Erith Sports Centre to celebrate community and combine their efforts as they all race alongside each other. Each year group will have a set time for parents and carers to attend for support however, due to capacity, we ask that you only stay for your own child’s race to allow other parents to have a seat for their child’s event. Further information and timetable to follow as soon as possible so please keep your eyes peeled for updates!
EYFS and KS1 Event – Monday 22nd July 2019
Our children from Nursery/Reception to Year 2 will be taking part in an event on the school grounds to which you will be invited to attend and support your child. Some classes will be running in the morning and some will be running in the afternoon – further information to follow as soon as possible so please keep your eyes peeled for updates!
More information regarding times etc., will be sent out as soon as final details have been confirmed.
Your child will also be receiving their very own sponsorship form. Please support your child to ‘Teach Cancer a Lesson’ by helping them to raise as much money as possible. There is also a school Just Giving Page (https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/northumberland-heath-primary-school) which can also be found on our school’s social media sites, as well as on the weekly school newsletter.
If you feel you are able to further support or assist in making this amazing event even more of a success for the children and our community, please speak to Mr Davies.
Our ongoing thanks for your continued support – Let’s Teach Cancer a Lesson!
With many thanks,
