Hockey Tournament Happiness

Last week, our children participated in a hockey tournament at Sporting Club Thamesmead .
We drew the previous year’s champions and runners up; but seeking the positive we viewed it as an opportunity to see the standard we would aim to reach with some training and match practice. We lost 4-1 to the previous year’s winners with the referee commending our efforts considering that for four of our six players it was their first ever competitive hockey game.
Winning our last group game took us through to the runners up cup in which we won second place. The children showed great problem solving skills to adapt to the new rule set, and were awarded the “Determination Award”.
We are looking forward to next year where we will enter two teams and hopefully challenge for the winners tournament.
